Shipping
Every order ships from our plant in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, to an address in the US or Canada. Set shipping_method on each order.
Methods
shipping_method | United States | Canada | In transit |
|---|---|---|---|
standard | Our most economical: UPS Mail Innovations (UPS carries it, the US Postal Service delivers it), or UPS Ground for heavier packages | Purolator Ground | Depends on distance from New Jersey |
express | FedEx 2Day | Not available | Two business days |
overnight | FedEx Standard Overnight | Not available | Next business day |
Transit starts when the order ships, after production. Asking for express or overnight to Canada, or any address outside the US and Canada, returns 422 shipping_method_unavailable.
ground and two_day, the names these methods launched with, still work: they're read as standard and express, and orders show the new names.
Live orders to Canada open soon. Sandbox orders to Canada work now.
What shipping costs
Shipping is priced from the destination, the method and the weight of the package, and charged with the order. That price is an estimate (shipping_is_estimate is always true). When the label prints, the difference from the actual label cost is charged or credited as a shipping_adjustment line in the order's ledger. Plans don't lower shipping.
Carriers price homes and businesses differently, so send ship_to.company only for a business address.
Labels
Labels show the ship-from name and company of the order's brand over our address, 39 Everett Drive, Princeton Junction, NJ 08550. A package the carrier can't deliver comes back to us. You set up brands on the dashboard's Brands page; an order ships under your default brand unless it names another with brand (an id from GET /brands). Proof copies ship to the brand's address.
Addresses
ship_to needs a name, line1, city, postal_code and a country of US or CA. Include the state or province too: carriers need it to route and price the package.
You can change where an order ships until its label prints, with PATCH /orders/{order_id}/shipping-address. Shipping is priced again, and the difference is charged or credited.
Tracking
When an order ships, the order.shipped webhook and the order's shipping object carry the carrier and its tracking numbers. A large order can travel as several packages, so tracking_numbers is a list.
