Make a book
Make a book with an AI assistant
Tell Claude or ChatGPT what book you want. It asks Quantum for the exact page and cover sizes, builds the print-ready files, checks them, and orders the printed book when you say yes. An 80-page photobook went from 301 photos to a hardcover order in an afternoon.
How it works
- ConnectAdd the Quantum connector to your assistant and sign in once.
- MakeThe assistant asks Quantum for the exact sizes, then builds your interior and cover PDFs from your photos or text.
- CheckIt sends the files to Quantum and checks them against the product: page count, page size, bleed and the cover's spine.
- Approve and orderYou see the real total, tax included. When you say yes, it places the order.
You stay in charge of the two things that matter: you approve the proof, and you say yes to the price. Quantum prints and ships from our own plant in Princeton Junction, New Jersey, from one copy.
What you need
- A Quantum account. Request access: our staff review every request, so it isn't instant. Once approved you can start with sandbox orders, which work exactly like real ones but are never printed or charged.
- An assistant that can read your files. Claude Cowork or Claude Code work on the folder you give them, and Claude and ChatGPT both connect to Quantum.
- For real (live) orders: credit on your account, and an owner or admin has to turn on live orders for assistants and set a daily limit. See how live orders work.
- Your content: photos, text, or documents the assistant can build the book from.
Connect your assistant
The connector address is the same for every assistant. You sign in with your Quantum login in your browser; the assistant never sees your password.
https://mcp.quantum-production.com/mcp- In Claude, open Settings and then Connectors, and add a custom connector.
- Paste the address above and approve the connection on the Quantum page that opens. It shows your account and role.
- Ask: “Use the Quantum whoami tool.” It should name you and your account.
- To have it work on files from your computer, use Claude Cowork or Claude Code and give it the folder.
- In ChatGPT's settings, add a custom connector (called an app in some versions) and paste the address above, choosing OAuth for sign-in.
- Approve the connection on the Quantum page that opens. It shows your account and role.
- Ask: “Use the Quantum whoami tool.” It should name you and your account.
- If it doesn't see a tool it should have, refresh or reconnect the connector in settings so it reads the current list.
Custom connectors may need Developer mode, and what your ChatGPT plan allows is set by OpenAI and, for workspaces, your admin: check OpenAI's help for your plan.

Make the book
Start by saying what the book is and which product you want. Ask it to look up the print sizes first: the sizes depend on the product and the number of pages, and getting them right is what makes the printed book come out as designed. Copy and adjust these.
Make a photobook from the photos in my [folder name] folder for Quantum's [product, e.g. 9×9 matte hardcover]. It's [what the trip or event was, where, and when]. Call get_print_specs first. Pick the best photos, cut duplicates and blurry frames, and organize it [one chapter per day / by place / in time order]. Show me cover options and a proof before you build the print files.
Make me a story sheet: number the 10–20 key moments with thumbnails so I can write a few sentences about each. Set my stories next to the right photos and keep my wording exactly.
Make a [number]-page [report / handbook / company book] for Quantum's [product] from [the documents or notes in my folder]. Call get_print_specs first. Lay it out with a cover, a contents page, [number] chapters and [an index / sources at the end of each chapter]. Make a reading copy I can review before you build the print files, and don't invent facts: mark anything you can't source.
Two things make a big difference: ask to see a proof before the final files, and ask for the interior pages at 300 ppi or more with fonts embedded. Quantum's file check looks at page count, page size, bleed and the cover's width; it doesn't judge image quality.
Check and order
The assistant needs to get your two PDFs, the interior and the cover, to Quantum. There are three ways: it can send them itself if it can run commands on your computer (Claude Cowork and Claude Code can), you can upload them on your dashboard's Upload print files page, or it can use a public https link to each PDF. If your assistant limits which websites it can reach, allow the address it shows you when an upload is blocked, or use the upload page.
Upload the print files to Quantum, run check_files, and quote [number] copies with [standard / express] shipping to [address]. Show me the total, tax included, and what it covers, then wait for my yes before you place the order.
- It checks the files and fixes anything the check reports.
- It gets a quote: the price right now, with sales tax included for live orders, good for 15 minutes. Nothing is charged yet.
- It shows you the total and what it covers. Only when you clearly say yes does it place the order; the order is exactly what was quoted.
- It tells you the order number, and you can follow it in your dashboard under Orders.
Try it with a sandbox order first. It runs the whole flow, including the file check, but nothing is printed or charged. Ask for a live order only when the proof is right.
In Claude, say “sandbox” or “live” in your request. If you don't say, it uses sandbox. Claude Cowork can send the PDFs itself; in Claude chat, use the upload page or links.
In ChatGPT, say “sandbox” or “live” in your request. If you don't say, it uses sandbox. In the children's book example, ChatGPT sent both PDFs to Quantum itself, checked them, quoted the price and placed the order once the author approved the total. If your ChatGPT can't send files, upload them on the dashboard's Upload print files page.
For teams and organizations
- Roles follow your dashboard. Owners, admins and developers can order; viewers and billing users can look at prices and orders but not order.
- Owners stay in control of real money. Live orders through assistants are off until an owner or admin turns them on and sets a daily limit. Anything over it is refused.
- Every order is traceable. It shows which person asked, and which assistant, and orders from assistants are marked as such.
- Each person connects their own assistant and can disconnect it at any time from the dashboard's AI assistants page.
- Building your own app instead? Everything here is also available through the partner API. For large or recurring orders, write to support@quprod.com.
